The House In My Head

The high school theater hums with quiet anticipation as the spotlight falls on a young boy standing center stage. His small frame is enlarged by the cardboard village behind him, and his voice is steady as he addresses the audience. "I want a house," he says, his eyes shimmering with wonder. "Not just any house—a special one, where dreams live." As he speaks, and the orchestra joins. A piano melody intertwines with the gentle hum of woodwinds and a choir, while strings add a wistful warmth.

Suddenly, he picks up a cardboard house from the stage and playfully places it over his head. The audience chuckles, but their laughter turns to gasps as the house seems to shrink, trapping his head inside. Percussion toys chime in with a mischievous rhythm, brass instruments swell with drama, and the strings vibrate with tension. The boy flails comically, his muffled voice calling out, "Well, I guess I *am* home now!" The crowd bursts into laughter as the music resolves into a cheerful, playful tune. The boy bows awkwardly, cardboard house still firmly lodged on his head, and the theater erupts in applause.
